Erika Footman

Higher Diploma
Erika has performed with Skunk Anansie
on their album 'Black Traffic' and supplied
guest vocals on their 2011 European tour.
She was also a guest vocal on Bastille's
Mix Tape (2013). Between 2009-2012
Erika performed with pop sensation Mika
inclusive of their performances on Jools
Holland, Letterman, the X-Factor and
Radio One. Erika currently performs with
Senser on their tour of UK and European
festivals. She has released three records
through her own label which she wrote,
recorded and produced. She has
headlined her own shows in Paris,
Milan and written with So Solid Crew
and Full Phatt (Taylor Swift/Mutya Buena).

Ken has worked in the music industry
since 1981. As foundingmember and
singer of Thrashing Doves, he signed
a major deal with A&M Records in 1985.
Following the break-up of the band,
he embarked on a career as a record
producer, establishing Electric
Wonderland Productions Ltd in 1995,
to develop new artists. He has made
records for labels including; Elektra
Entertainments, East/WestWarners,
Chrysalis, Sony, PalmPictures, RTI/S4,
Toshiba/EMI, and Almo. His sync music
company Kindread created soundtracks
for many major brands (Adidas, Benetton,
Vauxhall etc). Currently Ken works as a
consultant music business advisor, and
is director of his own publishing company,
Doves Hit Songs Ltd whose catalogue
is licensed through Chris Blackwell’s
Blue Mountain Music Ltd. Ken is a Senior
Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.

Fergus is a percussionist, drummer,
programmer and backing vocalist.
He works with both acoustic and/or
electronic instruments. He has performed
live with Duran Duran, David Guetta,
Take That, Robert Plant, Human League,
Sting, Vanessa Mae, All Saints, Vasko
Vassilev, Spice Girls, Whitesnake, Hank
Marvin, Martina Topley-Bird, WilliamOrbit
andMike Oldfield. His recording credits
include Madonna, Sting, Peter Gabriel
and Katie Melua. Advert andTV sessions
include Adidas, Harley-Davidson,
Smirnoff, JohnnyWalker, Levi’s, Virgin,
Channel 4, Sky, Disney Channel,
DoctorWho andThe Hustle.
Toby Goodman

Toby has established a significant career
in pop, theatre and within the studio.
He has held both percussion and drum
chairs on theWest EndTake That show
‘Never Forget’. Toby has toured with Kid
Creole and the Coconuts and through
his work on percussion with BillWyman’s
all-star band‘The RhythmKings’, he has
performed with artists including Robin
Gibb, Paul Carrack, Beverly Knight and
The Faces. Recording credits include
the critically acclaimedYeahYou’s début,
‘LookingThroughYou’. Currently he is
recording at Air Lyndhurst for Yamit
Mamo’s forthcoming album. Toby is also
a director at Metropolis Productions LTD.
Martin Goulding

Martin graduated from the Guitar
Institute of Technology in 1993. Since
joining the Institute faculty in 1998,
Martin has specialised inmodern rock
techniques, having developed the higher
diploma rock programme and degree
modules. He is also course leader and
senior tutor for the International Guitar
Foundation’s residential summer schools
and has also participated in the judging
of the annual Guitar Idol competition.
A busy sessionmusician with clients
including Chappell recordedmusic
library; Bruton Music, Zomba, Unity,
VivienneWestwood and the BBC,
Martin has also produced artists from
pop to rock, and writes, engineers and
produces for progressive band Linear
Sphere, who have just released their
second albumManvantara.

who has spent his international career
recording and performing as bassist
of choice for some of Britain’s finest
guitarists – jazz virtuoso MartinTaylor
(Spirit of Django), Steve Hackett

This professional performing experience
informs his teaching and research
interests, including performance
traditions, professional expectations,
and performance anxiety. Graduated
(as a mature student) from the London
College of Music with both MMus and
PGCTL. Fellow of the Higher Education
Academy, and currently BMus
Programme Leader.
Charlie Griffiths

Charlie has performed with a diversity
of musicians, including Slayer’s Dave
Lombardo, Mattias Eklundh, Gareth
Gates and is guitarist with the InsideOut/
Century Media signed band‘Haken’.
As a ‘Total Guitar’ columnist Charlie
has interviewed a host of guitar greats
including Slash, Vai and Satriani gaining
valuable insights which he shares with
students. Charlie also composed
the current Rockschool metal syllabus
and endorses Fractal Audio Systems,
Bareknuckle Pickups and
Strandberg guitars.
Lee Hodgson

Lee has been a professional guitarist
since 1979 and is mainly known as
a country picker. He has toured with
Number 1 pop group, Odyssey, a
Carpenters tribute show, and even
had the opportunity to jamwith Stevie
Wonder'sWonderlove. Lee has played
at prestigious venues includingWembley
Arena and the Royal Albert Hall, plus
countless festivals, theatre concerts and
clubs. He also sings lead and harmony
vocals and is listed in the International
Who’sWho of Popular Music Volumes
I and II. Having taught at the Institute
since 1990, he has alsomade many
tutorial DVD’s for Lick Library, as well
as writing reviews, conducting product
demonstrations and interviews for the
online magazine, iGuitar.

Jenny Howe

Jenny joined the National Youth Jazz
Orchestra as a vocalist in 1992 and
toured extensively with them in the UK
and abroad, appearing several times at
Ronnie Scotts. Consequently she began
working with Shakatak and toured Japan
with them. Recently Jenny was the
featured solo singer on the soundtrack for
the filmThe BrylcreemBoys, performing
the title track at the Cannes film festival.
She is also featured on the films Dream,
Hot Gold, and James Ellroy's L.A. Sheriffs
Homicide. She recently recorded an
album“SecondTake”with pianist/
composer Chris Lee featuring revoiced
arrangements of songs from artists
such as Bob Dylan andThe Beatles.
Yannis Iliopoulos

Yannis Iliopoulos is the founder and
director of The Sound Of Everything
Records, which since 2004 has
successfully signed upmore than 50
different artists from around the world
and has built up a catalogue of more than
200 releases. Yannis has a solid experience
of music licensing and worked extensively
on all types of music contracts including
many international sync deals. He has
licensed repertoire to top independent
labels and to all the majors. Yannis has
also an academic background as he has
studied Physics in Imperial College and
Mathematics in King’s College. He is now
launching the UK division of his record
label and also runs his publishing
company Timespace Music Publishing.

Ben has recorded and played with a
variety of musicians such as Apache
Indian, J.J Johnson, Botown, Philip
Morgan Lewis and JonathanWhiskerd.
Ben can be currently found playing for
pop-rock four pieceYellowire who have
graced festivals such as SXSW, Reading
and Leeds, Rock AmRing and Hard Rock
Calling. Ben has also established an
accomplished recording session career
working with producers such as Josh Blair
(Mark Ronson, Duran Duran), Bruce
Hughes (Jason Mraz) and Paul Castle
(Ian Drury &The Blockheads). Ben has
also appeared live on Sky TV Ditto Music,
ITV's "Superstar" and Zee TV supporting
various artists and bands.
Liza Keast

Liza began her teaching career at the
Actors Institute, where she taught acting
classes, created and ran her own signature
workshop 'Only InThe Bath' (designed
for 'closet singers') and was one of the
leaders of the MasteryWorkshop.
She was Head of Singing at London
Drama School and has run classes in
vocal technique, performance skills,
English pronunciation and presentation
skills for various other organisations
including IVC, RM Europe and
Bilimankhwe Arts. In 2010 she was
filmed as the featured expert in the
Britain's Got Talent Skills DVD for
Stage Presence and Performance.
