ICMP is delighted to be among the organisations working with and supporting the next generation of creative talent with the Brent Music Academy (BMA).

The BMA aims to provide performance and industry experiences for talented young people aged six-19, including training, small and large group experiences, performance opportunities, practical project work, masterclasses and work experience.

Part of the BMA’s ambitions are to establish career paths into the creative industries and remove barriers to progression through working with local and industry partners such as ICMP.

Professor Tony Harris, ICMP’s Principal is Chair of the academy’s Trustees and played an instrumental role in setting the initiative up.

Commenting, Tony said: “It’s a great pleasure to be working closely with other partners including the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra (RPO) and the Brent Black Music Co-Op to help support the development of emerging creative talents in our area.”

A big part of what we are looking to do is to provide more opportunities for young creatives to break through regardless of their background or prior achievements and ICMP is proud to be able to play a part in helping continue this with the BMA.”

Jonathan Whiskerd, ICMP’s Dean and BMA Trustee, said: “It’s vital that opportunities are available to - and barriers removed for - anyone looking to pursue a career in music. As a Brent resident for 15 years, I’m delighted to be working alongside Tony and the Trustee team to support the development of musical talent in our borough.”

ICMP is among a number of BMA partners including the Brent Music Service, John Lyon’s Charity and the Young Brent Foundation.
