Institute students have the opportunity to benefit from an
experienced and dedicated Industry Liaison and Careers service
called‘The Hub’. The Hub is on hand fromday one to support
students in taking their first steps towards a career in the music
industry. The Hub guides, supports and informs students helping
them tomake the link between their studies and their dream career.
We do this in a number of ways—
Auditions
We are continuously reaching out andmaking connections with
the hottest industry contacts in order to provide as many audition
opportunities for students as possible. We have sourced and
facilitated auditions with the likes of Sony/ATV Publishing, RCA,
Sony Music, Syco, BBC, ITV, E4, Sky One, EMI Virgin, ATCManagement,
Fierce Panda Records, Xenomania, Island, Columbia, Universal Music,
Channel 4 andmany international artists.
A&R Advice & Support
The Hub is always on hand to offer advice and expertise to students
on subject areas including song development, planning and strategy,
marketing and promotion. Institute students also have the
opportunity to book one-to-one appointments with our visiting
music industry advisors.
Work Experience & Internships
It is essential for students to gain as much work experience as
possible when looking to begin their career in the music industry.
The Hub gives Institute students access to opportunities provided by
our ever-growing network of contacts ranging from labels, publishers
andmanagement companies through tomarketing and PR agencies,
studios and some of the biggest manufacturers in the music business.
We are also able to support students with job searches and online job
applications, CV development and preparation for interviews.
Next Steps Sessions & Careers Day
Next Steps is a calendar of events and guest lectures that take place
across the academic year, with experienced industry professionals
presenting on a number of subjects such as ‘Your Online Presence’,
‘Modern A&R,’‘Music Rights & Revenues’and‘Music RadioToday’.
The annual Next Steps Careers Day is the biggest day inThe Hub’s
calendar. Here, students and alumni can seek advice, pass demos on
to trusted, leading industry experts and begin to build an essential
network of contacts that will set themup for the rest of their careers.
