Hugh has been working in London as a
bass player arranger and composer since
2010. During his time in London he has
performed with Nick Mason (Pink Floyd),
Marin Alsop, John Cowan (The Doobie
Brothers), MOBO nominee Duncan Millar
andMarc Russo (Tower of Power,
TheYellow Jackets) to name a few.
He has also had compositions selected
for use on MTV, worked with producers
including Jesper Irn (Steps, Lilly Allen,
All Saints) and Graeme Pleeth (Sonique)
and appeared on recordings alongside
Laurence Cottle, Neil Angilley and Pete

Audrey trained at the Guildhall School
of Music. As an arranger, composer,
performer, director and improvising
cellist she has recorded for over two
decades with numerous groups including
Dave Matthews andThe Smashing
Pumpkins, conducting her own orchestra,
La Scala Milan, and the Seattle and
Chicago Symphony Orchestras.
Recent years have seen Coldplay's
“A Rush Of BloodToThe Head”and
“XNY”, The Foo Fighter's“Echoes And
Silence”, three albums for Muse including
“The Resistance”, a number of albums
for Feeder, Moloko, Amy MacDonald,
Brendan Benson, Spandau Ballet,
Birdy and James Blunt. Three of her
arrangements have featured on Grammy
award winning singles. As a composer
for film“The Third Letter”has received
many awards.

Drumming professionally since the age
of 18, Mark is a highly respected drummer
and educator, known for seamlessly
merging technical ability withmusicality.
Mark has over 25-years teaching
experience and has taught many of the
UK’s current most prominent drummers,
placing particular emphasis on technique,
individual musicality and personal
playing style.

Best known within drum circles for
his long-standing association with pop
starlet Natalie Imbruglia, Chuck has a
reputation in the wider music industry
as a top-notch session drummer, musical
director, songwriter and producer.
Though his recording credits include
an impressive list of heavyweights and
his playing has driven dozens of Top 10
singles in the UK, he’s also kept busy as
a producer and a published songwriter.
Chuck moved to London fromNYC in
1985 and fell in love with the city and
its people. He has been living here
ever since.

A versatile and experienced pro player
and teacher, Andy’s speciality is country
guitar. During his career, he has worked
with Michael Twitty (son of country
legend, Conway), X Factor finalist and
‘2 Shoes’ singer, Charley Bird, played on
studio albums by Celtic Thunder’s chart
topping Ryan Kelly, and is a monthly
contributor to top tuitionmagazine,
Guitar Techniques. Currently, Andy tours
with‘Voice of The Heart, Karen Carpenter’
(a ‘Carpenters’ tribute show), ‘Forever in
Blue Jeans’ (a fast paced‘rock n roll hits
through the years’ show), and top
Eagles tribute band, ‘Desperado’.
Tamara Schlesinger

As director of TantrumRecords and lead
singer/songwriter of 6 Day Riot, Tamara
has written and released 5 albums in
9 years. She has had tracks synched on
Skins and the Hollywood film Scream 4
and has worked on numerous co-writes
including the trailer music for Danny
Boyle's 127 Hours. Tamara started in
the industry over 12 years ago, creating
her own record label and releasing her
ownmusic. She has performed live
at numerous festivals over the years
including Glastonbury and Bestival
and has played support slots with
Belle and Sebastian, Seth Lakeman
and Deacon Blue.

Iain has over forty years of playing,
recording and teaching experience.
He started in Cardiff doing sessions
for B.B.C. and H.T.V. while working in
nightclubs, running a fusion band and
playing in the‘Welsh Jazz Orchestra’,
under MD EricWetherall. After backing
many artists through the 70's Iain
relocated to Los Angeles in 1982, to study
and later teach at the Guitar Institute of
Technology. He played withmany artists
notably BrianWilson of the Beach Boys,
and Afterburner with Frank Gambale.
Iain has regularly contributed to
‘The Guitar Magazine’, and‘Guitarist’
and has produced several education titles
including“Electric Blues Guitar”. Returning
to college in 2002 he acquired an MMus
in‘Composing for Film andTV’and has
now set up a recording studio to develop
productionmusic and other projects.

Popular Music Performance
Justin has performed throughout the UK,
Europe, USA and Asia, both on stage, in
the studio and onTV, with a diversity of
artists in a broad range of styles. Whether
it’s the fusion of world-class guitarists
such as Amit Chatterjee, Mekaal Hasan
and Brett Garsed or the groove based
pop songs of singer/songwriters such
as Moira Lambert and Jonathan Kydd,
Justin’s playing demonstrates the type
of versatility that keeps him in constant
demand. Justin is also the founding
member of the drum faculty at the
Institute and since October 2005 has
written for Rhythmmagazine. His first
drum tuition book was published in 2008.
Paul Scott

Paul has played bass guitar and double
bass professionally for over thirty eight
years and has worked with Burt
Bacharach, Billy Eckstine, Jimmy
Witherspoon, Brian Johnson (AC/DC)
and Jamie Cullum. He has been touring
in the UK for the past twenty years with
the Glenn Miller Orchestra. Current
sessions include jazz, big band and
gospel recordings as well as sessions for
the B.B.C. He has also played in several
West End shows. Paul was Music Editor
of Bassist magazine from its inception
in 1994 to 2000. He was alsoTechnical
Review Editor of Musician, the journal of
the Musicians’Union, from 1995 to 2004.
He is a Fellow of the Higher Education
Academy (FHEA).

Atar is a songwriter, composer, arranger
and pianist. Initially studyingMusic at
London’s City University, Atar went on
to complete a postgraduate Masters in
Jazz at The Guildhall School of Music
and Drama where he specialised in
composition. After releasing‘Funkadrome’
through D Records / Universal in 2006,
Atar formed 4-piece indie-funk project
Royal Showdown. In 2013 Atar released
his debut solo album‘The Rise and Fall
of Danny Chevron’ (SUS Music). The
album features an array of guest artists
andmusicians, including Institute faculty
members NathanWilliams, Fini Bearman,
George Moore and Richard Strange.

Sam is an experienced composer,
producer andmulti-instrumentalist,
with classic and jazz training alongside
expertise in electronic / dance music.
His own original work has been signed
and released under the artist names
Lossy, Dekata Project, BrokenTonic and
Pack Of Six. As performer, writer, producer
and remixer, he has worked with the likes
ofWe Are Augustines, Stooshe, Phil
Selway (Radiohead), Laura Mvula, Roska,
Nu:Tone, Greymatter, Beverley Knight,
and BenTaylor. His music has been
featured on national TV and radio,
and he also has links with technology
companies, consulting for the likes of
FXpansion, Novation, and Rattly & Raw.
Holger Skepeneit

After graduating with first class honours
from the London College of Music and
subsequently completing a Masters at
the Leeds College of Music, Holger has
worked extensively as a keyboard player,
composer and arranger. Career highlights
include appearing at the BBC Proms in
the Park, reachingmulti-platinum status
asa writer, and performing/recording
with artists such as Katrina and theWaves,
Tony Hawks, Vassilis Xenopoulos, the
Counterfeit Stones, Jacky Cheung,
John Surman andmany others.
Maja Slatinsek

Maja is a vocalist and classically trained
pianist, originally from Slovenia where
she gained experience performing,
co-writing and teaching before she moved
to London in 2008. While performing as
a solo artist, she appeared on several
TV shows and stages around Europe
(Eurovision Song Contest in Greece to
The Late Late show on RTÉ to name but
a few). She now teaches singing, keyboard,
theory and harmony for a pool of
ambitious youngmusicians and
establishedmusicians in the music
industry. She is also looking forward to
the release of the first EP with her band
Kármán Line.

Gareth Dylan Smith is a respected
drummer in punk, alt rock, andmusical
theatre. Author of the world’s first
academic study of drummers, I Drum,
Therefore I Am, Gareth has two-dozen
articles inThe Grove Dictionary of
American Music. A leading scholar
in popular music education, he has
presented his research on five continents,
and is published in peer-reviewed journals
and books. He is also a columnist for
Rhythmmagazine.
