The Institute Songwriting degree is aimed at developing students’
creative voice as well as their technical abilities while equipping them
with the entrepreneurial and business skills required to capitalise on
their songwriting practise.
Students will be challenged to develop their skills as a writer, with
respect to their own writing projects and in the professional arena
working to a variety of briefs. The programme covers both the
creative process and the craft of songwriting.
As a songwriting student, you will have the opportunity to engage
with real industry experiences. Additionally, you will study promotion,
marketing, social networking and finance, as well as learning to
develop personal skills such as communication, self-management and
motivation. You will produce and workshop a significant portfolio of
work over the duration of the course and will be challenged to interact
and work in a wide range of professional scenarios. The 3rdYear is
entirely self-directed, by nature of your chosen artistic project, and
you will graduate with an industry-standard demo show reel and/or
a well-developed artist project demonstrated by a live showcase at
a top London venue.
