Audrey Riley | Arranging Tutor | ICMP London

Audrey Riley is a composer, cellist, arranger, and conductor with close to 200 album credits to her name. For over two decades, she has worked at the very highest levels of the music industry producing an exceedingly diverse body of work, from conducting the orchestra of La Scala in Milan to playing the cello with Blur, Nick Cave, and the Foo Fighters.

Audrey trained at the Guildhall School of Music under Leonard Stehn. Early recording credits include stints with industrial music legends Test Dept., Paul Weller’s The Style Council, and film soundtrack composer Simon Fisher Turner. Her own work for the screen includes compositions and orchestrations for the multi-award-winning The 3rd Letter and the feature film Mapmaker.

 She has toured with the Merce Cunningham Dance Company and, as musical director to the post-minimalist ensemble Icebreaker, has performed work by Terry Riley, Michael Nyman, and Kraftwerk, among many others. As well as leading her own orchestra, she has conducted both the Seattle and Chicago Symphony Orchestras.

As well as her teaching at ICMP, Audrey also teaches cello at Goldsmiths College and lectures in performance at Brunel University. Recent years have seen her contribute her talents as performer and arranger to albums by Coldplay, Muse, Spandau Ballet, Amy MacDonald, James Blunt, Moloko, Feeder, The Go-Betweens, Jessie-J, Funeral For A Friend, and Dirty Pretty Things.
