At the Institute we are totally committed to creating
the best teaching and learning environment and we
pride ourselves on having the latest industry-standard
equipment. We continually invest in our performance,
practice and teaching rooms, ensuring they are
properly equipped at all times. All students can access
the Institute's facilities for course-related activity,
free of charge.
As an Institute student you can count on a wide range
of specialist facilities, including—
Live Performance Studios
Fully equipped with professional PA andmonitoring
systems and a range of professional standard backline
including leading brands such as Mapex, Zildjian,
Paiste, DW, Yamaha, Fender, Gibson, Marshall, Vox,
Orange, Ashdown and Ampeg.
Specialist Teaching Rooms
Fully equipped with PA’s, weighted digital pianos
and instrument backline.
Recording Studio
The Institute's professional recording studio is paired
with a dedicated live room and an integrated vocal
booth. Alongside a 24 channel multi-track Soundcraft
Ghost recording desk, the studio features AdamA7X
monitors; a range of microphones from Shure, sE
Electronics and Sontronics; and an Apple Mac Pro
powering ProTools 10, Logic Pro 9, Ableton 8,
Sibelius 7 and Notion 3.
Dedicated Keyboard &Technology Suites
The Technology Suites house individual network-
enabled iMac pre-production workstations, each
connected to Focusrite audio interfaces and
M-Audiomidi controllers, and updated with
the latest version of Logic.
The Keyboard suites all offer the latest
keyboard technology.
Acoustic DrumPractice Booths
Each air-conditioned custom-designed booth has
a full professional kit, PZMmic and a mini mixer to
facilitate recording and audio playback for use
with headphones.
The wide range of acoustic kits available around
the school, is supplemented by rooms containing
electronic drum kits (RolandV-drums).
LectureTheatres
Fully equipped with information and communications
technology including high definition projectors.
These are used to deliver lecture and seminar classes
as well as video / filmpresentations.
Learning Resource Centre
The LRC is stocked with all the key course texts for
students to use on a reference basis. It also features
internet-connected iMac computer workstations
and printing facilities, allowing students the space
to research and work in a quiet and
relaxed environment.
Student Areas
Comfortably furnished with a mixture of sofas, chairs,
tables and live music TV, this is where students can
relax during their breaks, check their emails, read
the latest music press or jam and network with
fellow classmates.
Stock Instruments
We hold a wide range of guitars, basses, microphones
and associated equipment, including percussion
ensemble kits that are available for use by students.
For the study of percussion, the school also has a
wide range of large and small instruments, including
congas and cahons.
Technology
The Virtual Learning Environment (VLE) houses course
andmodule learning resources and activities, as well
as student support services such asWellbeing and
The Hub. The VLE can be accessed online from any
device or tablet on or off campus.
There is wifi available to all students throughout
the Institute campus.
