Jonathan Whiskerd is ICMP's Dean.

Jonathan has over 15 years' experience as a songwriter and recording artist. He has worked with writer-producers Joshua Blair (Mark Ronson, Bruno Mars), Sophie Daniels (Joelle Moses, Westlife), Paul Stanborough (Guy Chambers, Cathy Dennis), Bruce Hughes (Jason Mraz) and Igor Haefeli (Daughter) in both the UK and the US.

Jonathan has worked as a standalone songwriter on a range of artist projects in London and Nashville, for London-based Recognition Management and Nashville/Miami-based AbFab Artists. Artist projects include Puzzle, Lisa Canny, BROOKFIELD and Katie Coleman,  Nick Wilson, Brooke Law and Hannah Rose Platt. Through these projects he has collaborated with writer-producers Jodi Marr (MIKA, Paloma Faith), Brad Mair (Romeo Blanco, Kipper Eldridge), Mikko Gordon (Nigel Godrich, Osca, Gaz Coombes) and Toby Scott (Xenomania, Girls Aloud, Kaiser Chiefs). ​

In December 2016, Jonathan won the Future Music UK songwriting award (previous winners include Birdy and Lucy Spraggan) for 'Painted By You', which he co-wrote with Lisa Canny. ​

Jonathan has more than ten years' experience as a songwriting tutor and coach, with a primary focus on artist and writer development. He is a senior member of the songwriting faculty at ICMP and has co-led on the design, management and development of songwriting education since 2015. More recently, Jonathan has been appointed to the post of Dean: as a member of the senior academic and executive leadership teams, he is responsible for the growth and improvement of ICMP's highly practical and entrepreneurial approach to music education.

Jonathan has delivered workshops at Middlesex University, the BRIT School, HDPK in Berlin, the Vienna Music Institute, Malmö Academy of Music, ATLA Paris, and Rock Academy Singapore. ​

Jonathan is a mentor for the Ivors Academy and Help Musicians UK Co-Pilot scheme. He is also a partner with In The Blood, a start-up organisation offering coaching for creatives.
