Ian Ramage | Music Business Tutor | ICMP London

Ian Ramage is an artist manager and music business consultant with many years experience working for major labels at the very highest level. Ian has worked with ICMP's School of Music Business for many years and brings unparalleled knowledge and experience to our students.

Ian began his career in manufacturing, working his way up through the industry from a pressing plant employee to executive positions at Polydor Records. From positions in product management and marketing, Ian became Director of Marketing at EMI, working with Kate Bush, Pink Floyd, and Diana Ross. From there, he moved sideways into publishing, working in artists and repertoire for BMG for twelve years, then a further two years at Sony/ATV. There, he worked with a broad spectrum of artists and writers, including Coldplay, Keane, Richard Hawley, Neil Hannon, Feist, Elvis Costello, and The Cure.

For the past decade, Ian has been freelance as artist manager and consultant, passing on his wealth of experience through a variety of teaching positions, master classes, and public lectures. He remains a devoted music lover, gig-goer and industry observer.

In autumn 2019, Ian was appointed by BMG as their Head of Repertoire for UK artists in the US. At BMG, Ian now heads-up teams in London, New York and Los Angeles to ensure UK artists and their song catalogues are effectively represented in overseas territories.

Ian's latest position effectively demonstrates how ICMP's teaching faculty are not only working at the very heart of the music industry - read more about his fantastic appointment and what it means for ICMP students.

Ian teaches on our innovative BA (Hons) Music Business and Entrepreneurship programme.
