Daniel Green (BA (Hons), MA, PGCE, SFHEA) is a Teaching Fellow in Popular Music Studies at ICMP.
Dan is a lecturer, popular musicologist, instrumentalist, songwriter, and currently undertaking doctoral studies at the University of York St John under the supervision of Dr Mark Marrington. He is conducting sociocultural research to explore the history of the UK singles chart and its influence on popular taste. His research interests are predominantly focused on the commercial music industries and practices.
Previously being appointed Senior Lecturer at Leeds Conservatoire for six years, Dan has been involved in various musical projects utilising his compositional, arranging, and practical skills. His work has been showcased at numerous festivals and received national airplay through various BBC Radio stations. Dan’s artist project, under the pseudonym Victor RPA, saw the multimedia album Big Sounds from Small People released to critical acclaim in 2015.
Dan is currently editing an authorised biography on recording engineer Larry Levine with Abbey Road Institute Senior Audio Lecturer Jason O’Bryan. Dan is a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy and has been the recipient of two institutional teaching awards: Most Inspiring Lecturer Award from Leeds Conservatoire in 2015, and The Dean’s Award of Teaching & Learning from The Institute of Contemporary Music Performance in 2019.
